Faltas lab publication on cover of Cancer Research

The Faltas lab has published “The Cytidine Deaminase APOOBEC3G Contributes to Cancer Mutagenesis and Clonal Evolution in Bladder Cancer” in Cancer Research. This paper focuses on investigating the role of APOBEC3G in bladder cancer. The findings revealed that the transgenic expression of A3G in a murine bladder cancer model promotes tumorigenesis and induces unique mutational signatures that are different from any of the previously identified APOBEC signatures. In addition, the findings suggested that A3G-related mutational signature correlated with worse survival in patients with urothelial bladder cancer. To supplement these findings across all cancers, A3G expression was identified in 21 different cancer types. These findings suggest that different APOBEC3 enzymes induce unique mutation signatures

Noteworthy events also include our image being selected to be the cover of the issue and also Dr. Charlie Swanton has published an editorial highlighting the paper.  This was spearheaded by Weisi Liu, a post-doc in the lab.
